So i fell... not just "whoops, i fell..."
more the sound of, "OH MY GOD, KYLE! I THINK I JUST BROKE MY LEG! I BROKE MY LEG! KYLE! HELP ME! (add sounds of crying).
i was walking down the stairs holding kiera... midnightish... i had to turn off the tv before i took her to bed with me. i think my knee gave out on me and i slipped down one stair. i came tumbling forward, leaned back as to not drop the baby and landed on my knee 2 steps down with my foot still back 2 stairs. my leg was pretty much bent in half. kiera thank god, was not harmed. i'm guessing that if i wasn't carrying her i would have caught my fall or tumbled down the stairs ungracefully.
i thought for sure i had broken my leg. my body did not respond well and i kind of went in to shock with uncontrollable trembling and chattering. kyle inspected my knee and covered me up. He was my knight and shining armor...... until he handed me crying kiera to nurse in the midst of me crying and being in shock. husbands........
With some car seat rearranging, josh's help with screaming kiera, and my medical card in hand we were off to the ER. Luckily i have no horror stories about a 2:00am friday night emergency room visit. We were lucky. The dr. x-rayed my knee (no broken knee caps), gave me a knee brace, some crutches as we were back home by 3:45am.
I've been on the couch for the past 48 hours. It's a bitter sweet experience, the couch not the knee injury. how nice it has been to not be moving a million miles per hour. How awful it has been to watch my house moving a million miles per hour and not be able to control it! Kyle has stepped in and taken over all the duties. i hobble around the house here n there to wake my butt up and pee, but that's all i can handle.
i'm mostly concerned about the healing process and the end result not ever interfering with my running dreams and goals. i had just set out to do a half marathon in december and was entertaining the idea of the Los Angeles marathon in february. i did the santa clarita 5k last sunday. i absolutely love the energy at those events. ugh! why did this have to happen? please think good knee thoughts or contact the ligament angels and put in a good word for me.
hopefully i can get a dr. appointment and get an mri as soon as possible to find out the extent of my injury. in the meantime i have set up camp downstairs with pillows, some old magazines i wanted to read again, and the laptop. More blogs to come.....
