Happy Halloween

Well, again i wanted to sew the kids Halloween costumes. Again, i was up the night before trying to finish everything. The whole sewing machine experience was COMICAL!

A few moments to remember: (by the way, thanks mom for your help!)

* The needle snapping in half and nicking me in the neck before it flung across the room
(i thought i was bleeding: dramatic, i know)

* the bobbin kept JAMMING! UGH! i cleaned and cleaned and cleaned and CLEANED the bobbin and took it apart and spent an hour or perhaps three putting it back together realizing i had to take it apart again to fix part that i had put together.

* threading the eye that i swear kept closing every time my thread came close (took a good 15 minutes one time with my mom also trying)

* hemming kienan's cape inside out (he never noticed so i left it that way!)

* i measured mackenzie's waist for her "cone skirt." After i finished it and went to put it on her and realized i used the circumference of her waist not the radius. The skirt was twice as big as it should have been. Solution: a "wrap-around-skirt" with Velcro.

* my mom and i measured kienan and he fit a 5T pattern. i assumed his batman hood would be also be a 5T. Ya.... no. So the hood was too small and couldn't close under his chin without some alterations that i had no time for. So kienan transformed into Dracula instead of batman.
(Notice the crooked hood in the first picture and no hood in the second picture :)

And i will do it all over again next Halloween!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So here is Dracula, the daisy, and an ice cream cone
(that was kiera's costume last halloween when she was just a wee... it was a bunting suit.
My mom cut holes in the bottom to make leg holes!)

We went trick-or-treating at Great grandpa and grandma's house :)

We only had time to completely carve 1 pumpkin into a jack-o-lantern.

We did clean the guts out of the others to roast pumpkin seeds.

i hope to make Pumpkin Soup this year!

Aunt Camille helped with the chaos. Thank you!

You make me laugh out loud sitting all by myself. So what do you say we sew the girls dresses for Christmas and a matching shirt for Kienan. By the way - checking my calendar I'll be busy until about December 26th!!

Love ya
