I have so much to write about but seems that i am only having 10 hours in my day opposed to the 24 hours everyone else gets. So before Easter rolls around i'm gunna jot down a few things.
New Year's Eve was spent at my brother's house celebrating friends and family and hopes for 2009. Kienan and Mackenzie stayed awake until the clock struck 12. It was good to have all my family and friends around me.
My friend Julie and i and the kids decided to go observe the Pasadena Rose Parade floats. I expected to park the truck and wander the streets amazed by the detail and beauty of all the floats. Not so much!!!!! As we arrived in Pasadena we discovered the weather was quite a bit cooler than Santa Clarita. None of us were prepared for the cold wind and cloudy skies. I ended up buying Kienan a Rose Bowl sweatshirt. Luckily, he loves it and has worn my $30 investment more than once. We then stood in line for 45 minutes JUST to buy the $7 a piece tickets and the $3 fee to ride the school bus to the floats.
Yes, a school bus ride..... for 15 MINUTES through Pasadena. Once everyone was loaded off the bus we walked still more to find ourselves immersed in a crowd of people. The definition of crowd: we were packed so tightly than we shuffled our feet when we walked as opposed to taking actual steps. Apparently, we weren't the only ones with this grand idea. We devised a plan of attack while laughing at how this whole adventure was nothing we expected. We wandered, snacked, and found our favorite float; The Skateboarding Dog. We spent a couple of hours viewing the talents of so many people and then reversed our route back to the Rose Bowl. All in all, i'm glad we went. One of those things that you can say, "i did that!"
Of course i always love spending time with my friend too ;)
So Happy New Year. I hope 2009 flourishes with teachable experiences, more memorable moments caught on film, longer episodes of giggles, that natural high of feeling healthy and in shape, challenges that make me grow, romance, more hand holding, longer oral stories dictated by my imaginative children (and then and then and then), a prosperous garden that can not only provide for our own kitchen but gifted to others, more singing in the car with the windows down, business opportunities that scare us, less laundry and more new recipes, definitely more days of acting like a kid and not an uptight mommy, and many more "i love yous."
