Red Rock

Tuesday, June 10th
Favorite sayings today:
Kyle: "God really knew what he was doing." (in regards to the magnificent red rock formations)

Josh: 'That would be so cool to go with a bunch of friends on Spring Break and explore all the caves and do some rock climbing." (way better than let's go party in Havasu)

Kienan first thing this morning said, "Daddy, i want to fish with you." And the last thing he said before he went to bed, "Daddy, i want to fish 15 times."
Mackenzie: "Camping is my favorite. My love camping." (this is while she is snuggled in her sleeping bag)

Kiera: Well, she's kinda like the dog that likes to stick their head out the window. She loves the feeling of the wind on her face. Unfortunately, she has wind burned cheeks today. :(

She wouldn't stop banging at the windows. And sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do when traveling for so many hours with a 9 month old. No persons were injured during this stunt. As a matter of fact, he's holding onto her with his arms and his heart too.

Destination #4: Moab, Utah
We followed the good weather and heard great things about Moab. Kyle and Josh decided the scenic by pass would be much more adventurous than the highway. It took us 6 hours to travel 284 miles but whose counting. :) We discovered some cool pictographs and amazing scenery. Josh spotted some tagging with binoculars on the majestic rocks. Instantly i was irritated at the thoughtlessness of some people. But when he told me it read, "Jim Cook 1911" i was in awe. Kinda cool. We reached 10,000 feet elevation and then back down again. We came across a Coffee House in the middle of the rocks with huge windows that overlooked all the beauty. It's open every day but TUESDAY!

PICTOGRAPHS OVER A THOUSAND YEARS OLD

We are camping at a KOA Kamp tonight. Nothing similar to last night. Last night we were all alone in the middle of the Utah country backed up to the river. We even had to build our fire pit and made smores. Very peaceful. That was the upside. The downside was that after 2 showers our tank was full. 2 showers in the iddy biddy shower that Kyle has to bend down to get under the shower head. (By the way, i would post a picture if i could of him scrunched into this tiny shower) The KOA is super family friendly, but with a lot of rules. Everyone is neatly lined up in rows. Not so naturey. But let me tell you, the showers are like no other. It's a Family Bathroom! So we packed up the shower goods and all headed down to the showers (except josh had his own of course). Once all the kids were done and gone i had the shower to myself. This rarely even occurs in my own home. apparently i stood there for a long time because the light sensor turned off the lights! A piece of heaven i tell ya. it made 284 miles in 6 hours worth it...

These are some of the animals we've spotted so far....

WOODPECKER, BUTTERFLY FLYING VERY CLOSE, AND A DOE
